So I suck at Blog posting aparently….

February 2, 2010 at 3:06 pm (Acting, Family, Friends, Green Living, Trips, work)

Well..it’s been way too long since I’ve written!  Things have been going well.

So since I’ve last written…I quit my work with Planet Four Films…for a ton of different reasons.  Then I got my first Kidney Stone….Thanks Dad!  Then at the end of August my absolutely beautiful and stunning niece Mirabella was born!  And I got to be there!  Proud Auntie Alert.

I’ve been working part time at Somerset Mall in Troy, MI for Lush Cosmetics.  It’s my absolutely favorite place to shop – and its also a great place to work.  So that brings in some extra funds.

The coolest thing that has happend lately is my work with Boxtruck Productions.  I was asked by the Owners Wes Knodel and Roger Fowler to assist in producing ther newest short “Michael”.  We spent 3 days over 2 weekends getting everything filmed, with the final culmination happening this past Saturday at our home.  It was an absolute blast!!!

So things are going well.  Just planning Peter’s 30th birthday celebration in June and at the end of June a fun filled trip to Gulf Shores with my best group of friends.   I guess this is a short update…but it’s what it is!!!!!

Take it Easy!

Opening Night and Longtime Updates

June 28, 2009 at 11:46 am (Acting, Babies, Educational Opportunities, The Actor's Workshop, work)

Wow!  Didn’t realize that I haven’t touched this site since January.  Sorry about that.  Alot has happened.  I was laid off from my job (Whoo).  My Sister and her husband are pregnant (and due in August) with their first  baby.  I am working on an Independent film (Politics of Street Crime ).  And have been asked to be a part of a production crew for 48 hour Movie at the end of July!  Much busier being off of work then when I was on it! LOL

I have to say that being laid off hasn’t been all that bad.  Is their suckage…well of course.  Less income coming in even with unemployment…and not being able to find a job in your field can be  a little disheartening.  But in all actuality, it has given me the impetus to work on what has always been my heart and soul – Acting.

As I told you all back in January I started taking an acting class in Royal Oak.  Well when the beginning classes were done I signed up for the film class as well as the independent study classes.  Well along with the film class I have been working hard on the actual film.  I have a role in the film as well as working crew.  I am learning many of the aspects of being a production coordinator as well as being on most of the film shoots doing whatever is needed of me at the time.  Our goal is to wrap production in September in time to submit our film to Sundance.  So it’s pretty exciting stuff!

This weekend we held/are holding a varietal theater show at a black box theater in Detroit – 1515 Broadway.  Not only has this been an opportunity to showcase the talent in our group, but we are  also utilizing this time to celebrate The Actors Workshop’s Silver Anniversary as well as fund raising for the Film.  In July our director will be heading out to California to do some casting for a name actor to be a part of the film.   Keep your fingers crossed!

For the 25 show this weekend – I have had 2 major and one supporting role in the 3 theater productions.  It’s been a ton of rehearsals, work, time and fun!  Opening night went off pretty darn good.  We had some small oops’ (not from me of course) but that’s what happens in a live show.  Peter was there – and I have to say…nothing made me feel better then to find him after the show, and to see nothing but naked adoration and pride in his eyes.  It really made me feel like I might be good at this after all!  It was awesome.  I had a lot of wonderful compliments, and some really spot on suggestions.  Tonight is the close of show – and then it’s back to the film world.  But I have LOVED this quick foray into theater. Actually our director is looking to possibly direct a showing of Streetcar Named Desire this fall. I hope I can work with them on that as well….I love Tennessee Williams.

Through my work with The Actor’s Workshop I was introduced to Wes and Roger from BoxTruck Productions and was invited by them to be on their team for the Detroit 48 Hour Movie Project…can you say honored and excited.  What will happen is at the end of July our team will be given a genre and some other information – and we will have to write, shoot and edit a film with those parts within 48 hours.  All the entries will be shown at the Main Art Theatre in Royal Oak on the following Wednesday, then onto the Best of 48 Hour Movies which I belive will be held in Atlanta and then the 10 best of the tour will be heading on to Cannes in 2010.   So it’s really an excellent and exciting opportunity. And I cannot wait to be a part of all of this.

Whew!  Busy, Busy, Busy Bee!  But thought I should update you all!   Love and miss you – and I’ll try to be better on this!

New Years, New Years, New Years

January 6, 2009 at 9:07 am (Friends, New Years, The Actor's Workshop, Weekend Activities, work)

So we spent the New Years Holiday in Wolcott, Indiana with my really good friend Amanda!   Our friends Chris and Carrie and their son Miles drove up from Evansville.  Ed and Laura from Lafayette also drove out to hang with us for the New Years.  We had the opportunity to meet new people (from Amanda’s Church), and to gossip with her about her new boy  toy…When am I going to meet him…hrm?!?!  And drink alot of really good scotch.  It was a great night.  I had the opportunity to hold Chris and Carrie’s son Miles until he fell asleep and then cuddle with him in a chair for about an hour.  Heaven!  All in all it was a wonderful way to ring in a New Year!

This weekend was the first in a long time that Pete and I had no where to go!  Yea!  We went to the mall and Bahama Breeze on Friday.  Then we were hanging around on Saturday, when I decided I wanted to check if the new Tomb Raider game was available for the 360.  So Pete and I drove the mile and half to the Village, and headed to Gamestop.  Well that one did not have a copy of the game, so we began debating driving another 1/2 mile to the Adam’s road Gamestop or just going home.  We walked back out to the car, got in (still debating mind you), and Pete turned the Key.  Nothing.  Not a crank over, not a light coming on, nothing.  The battery was dead, and it was cold, and neither of us was really dressed to walk a mile and a half…but we did any way.  Back to the house.  In the cold.  My ears were frozen!  We picked up Pete’s car and drove back up to the village and jumped my battery.  Then we drove to Sears – which by the time we got there was too full, and back home…no new battery in site.  We got up and left the house around 11:30 on Sunday and drove back to Sears, where we were able to FINALLY get the battery changed – YEA!  Then we grabbed lunch at Kabob Grill in the Village and went to the Adam’s Road Gamestop and were able to find the New Tomb Raider – a used copy at that!  And I spent the rest of the evening playing to my hearts content!

And now back to my job – and the neurotic people I work with!  It’s a real examination of the human psyche in this joint!  It’s really fun to play with people’s minds as well (insert evil laugh here).  Afterwork, my coworker Caitlyn and I headed off to Royal Oak for an Acting Class at the Actor’s Workshop.  Yup…You heard me right an acting class.  I used to be a part of theater in High School, before I lost my confidence in myself…so here I am getting my feet wet and trying it all over again.  Our class has 11 people in it…5 women, 6 men.  So last night was interesting.  We started with a relaxation excercise, and then onto a warm up exercise.  Then we proceeded to do a memory imprinting.  We were paired up, and one person told a very vivid memory to another person, and the second person was to tell the memory with imagry as if it were their own.  This week I was the one taking possesion of someone else’s memory, and next week I’ll be telling my memory.  Then we did a repitition excercise, and then onto Inprove.  I am not very good at this whole improve thing…so that’s my goal to get better at that.  All in all it was a great experience!

So the long and short of it…I had a wonderful New Years…an eventful and relaxing weekend, a normal day at work and a fantastic first class.  :D   Happy 2009 – Hope you try something new this year!

Crazy Ramblings on a Wednesday…

September 24, 2008 at 7:13 pm (Friends, Pregancy Issues, Random thoughts, work)

I’m just sitting hear listenting to a little Joni Mitchell – Circle Game to be exact…

I don’t know why today is the day that I am missing my brother…nothing is going on.  The atmosphere at work is a little cloudy…I’m feeling moody…and Pete is in Chicago (admitidly driving back today, but still not here).  It’s just one of those great down days.

Wish it was anything but.  I can only  handle sad and down once in a while….today is not one of those days.  Trying to focus on the positive…but having a hard time with that today.  I should have ovulated either yesterday or today, but what does that help – Pete aint here to hit the little bugger…so probably not going to get pg this month…Just getting tired of all this shit!  It’s so silly.  Wondering when my body will work (I know, when it’s supposed to)…getting sick of people who have no clue what this feels like trying to help…And tired of not being knocked up! Grr!  I mean seriously, put Tab B into Slot A, move around a bit, and Wham, it should be happening.  Well we’ve followed all the steps and all the directions and had quite a bit of Wham’s and still no baby growing.  I held off on Sex because of the possiblities of pregnancy – Man, should have had a TON of sex – that would have mad me get pregnant!  Sheesh!

Good news is that I’ve been catching up with some old friends.  Some are welcome additions to my life, some I’m still feeling out whether I really want them having access to my life.  Facebook and MySpace are nice in small doses and in small degree’s, but sometimes I don’t like people having access to that information…Yet, I am content to pour my thoughts out into cyberspace fo the world to read….Conundrum anyone?

Oh well, I supposed I should go back to pretending to work, and ignoring most of those that I work with because they are on my nerves right now…but not really wanting to.  Online Backgammon anyone?  Actually I am extremely bored right now.  So bored to the point that my brain feels like it went to sleep about an hour ago.  Any one want to meet me tonight for shots?  I’ll pour the vodka, you bring the trashcan!

There’s a Little Black Spot on the Sun Today…

July 28, 2008 at 3:25 pm (Concerts, Family, Weekend Activities, work)

Well it’s been a little bit since I’ve updated :) Oops! We’ve had an extremely busy (but lovely) couple of weeks here in Michigan. On the 19th we hosted my sister Chelsea’s wedding shower, which might I add was a BLAST! I rock…I know it!

Chelsea’s Wedding Shower

Last week at work was pretty busy. We had a couple of people out of the office and it made for interesting moments. But the weekend rocked. Natalie and Rob drove out from Wisconsin to hang with us and the four of us went to The Police Concert (with special guest Elvis Costello) at DTE (which is an outdoor amphitheaters). It was a GREAT concert…and I must say it may actually tie with seeing the Violent Femmes…Just saying! Elvis rocked our socks off. He was charismatic, and his songs were fabu! Just love that man! Then The Police came on stage. And OH MY GOD! They were fantastic. They did all the favorites, and some newer ones. There were 2 encores, and we didn’t leave DTE until 11:30. It was a fantastically long and beautiful concert. I danced and sang my ass off, and was generally just ecstatic! If you get a chance to see them in concert…GO! They Rocked. Nat took some pics, so when I get them from here, I’ll post them here. We had pretty good lawn seats…so we’ll see.

Pete’s mom is flying in on Wednesday and then the 3 of us are going to see Neil Diamond at The Palace of Auburn Hills…I’ll let you know how that one goes! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Welcome to the Jungle

June 30, 2008 at 4:57 pm (Concerts, Trips, work)

I absolutely love Guns N Roses – and I can do a mean impersonation of Axl Rose! Yes I know – I rock!

Work is a bit crazy right now. We are dealing with phone issues in the California office, which means they are currently forwarded to us…Yikes! The CSR’s are getting restless…but my little cubby hole is nice and quiet. Boy do I love being in an “important” position. LOL

This coming month is looking quite busy but we are up for it. This weekend we will be visiting friends in Indiana and spending sometime with “My New Nephew” Rowan! I cannot wait.

Next weekend Pete’s folks are coming out and staying until the following weeekend. They fly out on the 19th and on the 19th I am hosting my Sister’s wedding shower. The following weekend is the Police Concert, and our friends Natalie and Rob are coming up to spend the weekend and see The Police and Elvis Costello! Then the next weekend (actually the next wednesday) Pete’s mom is flying back up. For Mother’s Day, her Birthday (and maybe Christmas) we bought her a plane ticket and a ticket to see Neil Diamond here in Michigan. She is so excited! Then in October – my sister and I are going to see the New Kids on the Block. Oh yes…We Rock!

Concerts, music, babies and friends! What a fantastic summer!!!!

Friday’s must be Blog Post Days…

June 13, 2008 at 1:28 pm (Environment, Weekend Activities, work)

Well welcome to Friday! Yea! This has been a pretty slow and yet busy week…Ah…the paradox! Work has been up and down. I still really like my job…it has it’s moments and people I think about slapping, but mostly it’s been pretty darn good and good to me! I’ve been doing a whole lot of research lately on “Greener Living” and it’s pretty interesting. Peter and I don’t do enough, but we’re trying and I think that’s what matters.

Some of the things I have been trying….

  • I have gotten whole hog into a company called Lush and I am loving it!  Lush is a cosmetic’s company without the makeup….LOL  Whatever that means!  It has soaps, and shampoo, body wash, lotion, etc.  The thing I like about it is that it’s reducing the amount of packaging out there, and it’s using mostly organic and good for your ingredients in their items.  I LOVE their solid shampoos and conditioner (don’t knock it until you try it – WAY better than the stuff I got in Salons) and their bars of soap (so conditioning, and better than body washes).  Their face stuff is divine…my skin has NEVER looked so good and in control.  It’s great.  I highly recommend this company to everyone!
  • We recycle, recycle, recycle.  I didn’t realize while we were living in E’ville that there was actually recycling (the idea was so hidden there).  When we moved here, we found out that our garbage company picks up recycling.  WOOO.  We now have more recycling going out than trash…It’s been pretty happy go lucky for us.
  • I have been researching better cleaning products for the home, and items that I can make myself…so that’s been fun.  I’ve found a laundry detergent, that I cannot wait to try (once our current environmentally friendly detergent is gone :) )  I have also purchased those dryer balls to see if those work as good as dryer sheets.  I have not been able to give up my dryer or my hair dryer yet…Sorry Jane!
  • I’ve also been doing some research on feminine hygiene products that create less landfill issues.  Because as most women know…we go through a lot of that on a daily basis! LOL  I’ve been researching Moon Cups and Diva Cups (need to talk to the croch doc first), Sea sponge’s and Reusable Cloth pads.  We’ll see…it maybe more trouble than it’s worth though….I know the Cloth vs Disposable diaper debate is still on….
  • Composting…but do I garden enough to warrant this…The debate is on.
  • I really want to ride my bike to work, but there are some MAJOR roads on which I travel…so we’ll see about this one too. I need to take the Clinton River Trail and see where the dumps me off near my office…maybe.

We are also heading down to my mom’s this weekend.  My Aunt is having a purse party, and since this weekend is father’s day, we’d like to see my step-father!  Then we’ll go to my dad’s for a combo Father’s Day/Pete’s Birthday!   Whew!  It’ll be a busy weekend, but at least we’re seeing family along the way!!!!
